The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 磐石方且厚，可以卒千年；蒲苇一时纫，便作旦夕间。
后疫情时代的经济下行、情感疏离迫使我们重新审视过往经历中足以使情感激荡的瞬间。濒临破碎的苦涩郁闷，甜蜜的怀念渐渐以无形的姿态入侵渗透，一如片名所言，这些偶然被唤醒的记忆片段架构在一个个发生转机的场景。看完之后才发现后劲十足，弥合了细碎的、虚无缥缈的依恋情感，又能借由不同形式的交流传递出隐秘的情绪。不必刻意去找回，只需恰好处于被唤醒的情形中，到来的生日，偶然的路过并驻足，那些关于爱意曾经肆意弥漫的时刻自然会重现。
#TIFF21 男女主换俩人这片票房能加一位数
即使世界只有一种通用语言，说出口的爱还是会被误解。
下半年第一部让我心生感慨的电影。伊藤沙莉的烟嗓和慵懒的身姿意外的性感，池松壮亮演起这样稍显潦倒的艺术家人设也驾轻就熟。这段恋情比起用花束作比，更不如说是「霓虹灯般的爱情」，它没有象牙塔里小文青的那种百般矫情，它在迷乱而残忍的都市里，穿梭在人来人往中，有着不可抗力的时效性。也许你永远也不会想到，坐在驾驶座上穿着板正制度平稳驾驶的司机会眼含热泪，会有着怎样的爱情故事，她的「稍微想起一些」又会有怎样的回忆，那个黑暗的舞台上，上演着相拥而眠、水族馆约会、出租车后座接吻等多少情节。可最终车继续行驶，爱情落幕，回到家，庆祝一个永不会忘记的生日，买一个蛋糕，再用一个蹩脚的理由搪塞过去。没关系，明天再吃吧，爱永不过期，我随时都可以稍微想起。
4.5，私心很喜欢，强化场所承载的意义，又通过倒叙强化每一分遗憾的情绪。有时候在纠结，多部创作后整体更为工整而圆熟，但又觉得好像失去了青涩时期的那份锐气。

演员的表现也很入世，没有刻意的笨拙感，深入真实。
有一部描写错过的爱情的日本片，特有的孤独感，整片的叙事慢、慢、慢，爱的人很喜欢给5星，不爱的人觉得很闷的片，啥也讲不深刻，为赋新词强说愁，人物逻辑交代无法说服我，演员的表演也很淡。
今年呢。
伊藤莎莉很可爱，但是她和男主的cp感就见仁见智了。剧情很平淡，时间线也挺混乱，看着看着开始懵逼，思考这到底是回忆还是现实。
我们无法成为大人+爱情赏味期，从乏味到灵动也是倒放恋爱的过程。池松壮亮那个恐怖发际线让他演长发善舞男主真是为难他了…伊藤莎莉倒是很不错。完全忘记风吕光并且恢复浅草同学滤镜了，很适合我们最后还是走散了这挂前女友。
鼓励性五星。国产青春片支棱起来了 ，国产means完全没有港台味！（除了五月天，没办法，国产独立音乐没有支棱起来）青春的精髓就是小孩努力扮大人，但在这之前，我们有的全是大人努力扮小孩，现在我们也有自己的小孩了（而且不是周冬雨，惊喜！
伊藤沙莉好可愛，是我見過最可愛的的士司機了。可惜和池松欠火花。
疫情下女出租车司机与男舞者的爱情。这一对选的不错。
这一部没有松居大悟以往电影那般跳脱怪异的设定。编年体式的倒叙记录爱情故事，前半段铺得很满，情绪逼人，整体故事过于闭合设计，缺乏一些留白式的开放思维。
