The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 剧本和真人TV版同是Beau DeMayo……所以这个维瑟米尔的主要重心是跟杰洛特一样遇到怪物解决事件，并且找到怪物的真正来源，光有怪物事件只是普通的支线（这个真的十分普通，虽然杀杀杀，却缺乏原著和游戏描绘杀戮中各方冲突的复杂原色），然后填上很长的闪回来挖掘维瑟米尔的童年，用一定篇幅展现了培养猎魔人的青草试炼，这些可能会让原著和游戏Fans感到兴奋。说明了维瑟米尔如何长成势利轻浮的猎魔人之后，故事进行中很多地方看得出节奏不好，还有跟原著设定有相矛盾的时候，比如说，维瑟米尔其实比凯尔莫罕还老，后面才有法师带领一群憎恨猎魔人的人血洗凯尔莫罕，维瑟米尔因为不在城里才成为狼学派最后的大师……不过无所谓。从另一种角度的故事看待The Witcher世界非人怪物和扭曲人类以及不是东西的猎魔人还是可以的。
